I can hardly believe that we are to the end of June and that next week is the end of the block!
So it is time to prepare for the post test - remember that the post test is a progress test.
One of the very best practices you can have is Reviewing
Reviewing is not trying to learn something new in the next few days or hours - it is simply the skill of remembering what you have been learning in the recent past. Please Please Please go back over the skills you have worked with this block, both individually and as a class. The beautiful thing about the blog is that you can go back to any of our old posts to access the links that I gave you. I also encourage you to go back over all paper practice that we have done.
Another great practice is to make sure your physical self is as prepared as possible
Get a good night sleep
Eat a good breakfast
These things sound simple but they really do help you do your best.
Test anxiety can be a big hurdle to get over for some students. I am linking you to a couple of sites to help with this.

Just a reminder - there is open lab Monday 10-2

This site gives some good tips on how to handle stress.
As you are reviewing your material over the next few days - remember that reviewing is simply remembering - now is not the time to try and learn a new concept it is time to solidfy your comfort level with concepts that you have already been working on.
Get a good nights sleep
Eat breakfast
Enjoy your weekend - Give your mom a hug - See ya on Tuesday :)

Spring Break Update
I hope that you are having a really great spring break - but I will be excited to see you back in class on the 2nd. I am so very glad that you have taken the time to check up on the blog and that you will be ready for class next week.
I have choosen several areas for us to work on as a group - as these are things that most if not all of us need some work on.
We are going to start with practicing integers - positive and negative numbers
The site that I am linking you to is coolmath.com (a lot of really great stuff on here - check it out) I want you to do through lesson #6. She does a lot a good explainations and then she has you do a few practice problems throughout the lessons - Please bring your answers with you to class on Tuesday. It is also a good idea to take a few notes while you are going through these lessons.

Welcome to the Block D blog!!!!!

I am super excited - well for a couple of reasons - spring is hopefully around the corner (I do realize that we live in Idaho and "spring" includes a few snow storms) and second that you are in my math class :) I hope that you are ready to work hard and learn a lot.
There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.
With spring break next week I just want to remind you of office hours / open lab - Mon - Wed 10-2. Please follow the links to Khan academy to get signed up and make sure to follow the instructions to add me as a coach.
khanacademy.org
Now you need to set me up as your coach
To do this log in and click on 'visit profile'
click on 'coaches'
type in burleyabe@csi.edu and click 'add coach'
This will allow me to help you further as we work with this site. If you have any questions we will address them on Thursday.
Don't forget your login information - I suggest you write it down
Enjoy Spring Break and Find some time to study a little bit and I will see you in class on April 2nd.

I think it is time for a little cheerleader action! You can Do It!!!!!!!!!!!

In class today we did a little measurement quiz - I hope that you take your results and use them to help you review measurment - Look back through previous posts to find the links that you need to work on whatever skill(s) you found you need a little work on. The little cheerleader is here to help remind you to keep going!!!!! It can be easy to get discouraged by something like a quiz - that isn't the point - Now you now what what you have learned and what needs a little more effort - So put this into your head - G - O - come on - (insert your name here)- Lets Go! Yep- it's been a long winter
